Projection Space Maximum A Posterior Method for Low Photon Counts PET Image Reconstruction

ABSTRACT:  In this paper, we proposed a new MAP method more suitable for low signal to noise (SNR) measurements. Different from conventional MAP method, we assume the projection space as a Gibbs field and the penalty term we used was defined in projection space. The spatial resolution of our method was studied and we furthermore modified our method to obtain nearly spatial invariant resolution. Both simulated data and real clinical data were used to testify our method, and future work was discussed at the end of the paper.
