Recent Trends in Production and Processing of Mango in India An Empirical Study

ABSTRACT
This paper attempts examine the dynamic interrelationship among growth of mango production and export of fresh , processed mangoes from India over the period of 2011-12 to 2018-19 and its impact on economic growth .Besides, the significant economic effects of mango production and processing, several existing evidence also documents that fresh and processed mango products plays a crucial role in promoting horticultural export. Implying that processing and export of mango products should be given more focus in a wide discussed food processing industry as per current necessitate. In this context ,the growth in production of fresh mangoes and export of fresh and processed mangoes have been analysed using secondary data of the Ministry of Horticulture (MOH),GOI and APEDA. Empirical estimation applying growth trend analysis using time series data reveal that both production and export of fresh mango and export of processed mangoes have positive trends .The fresh and processed mangoes have positive and significant influence on horticultural export. So, mango production and processing should be improved as an important source of export earnings and also to experienced better economic growth.
