Author Name : M. Jasmine Sagila, J. P. Ida Joicey

ABSTRACT

This research paper focuses on family and social discord as a result of breaking so-called social norms. The main character and other characters suffer in their lives due to the violation of this social norm. Women, children and the untouchable are the direct victims of this social patriarchy. Christianity and communism do not follow their ideas in real life. They preach in public, but they don't follow what they preach in public. In the end, they also become the best ambassadors of the established social norm. These social rule breakers, all the elements that maintain this social rule come together and end up breaking the social rules. Arundhati Roy successfully told this story through his novel, The God of Small Things in the World. The history of the company is the history of these big things.

Keywords: Patriarchy, Christianity, Communism, Tradition.
