Remedial Significance of Potaki (Basella Alba) on Sukhaprasava: A Review

ABSTRACT

Ayurveda is one of the most ancient medical sciences of the world. It conceives and describes the basic and applied aspect of life process, health, diseases and its management. Prasava is complex process in which women has undergo series of physiological changes to bring her progeny to this outer world. It starts from labor pain. There are so many formulations and drugs are explained in Ayurvedic textbooks. In Bhaishajyaratanvali and in Bhavprakasha, Potaki is mentioned under the heading of the “Sukhaprasavkar yoga” This article reviews pharmacological properties and action of Potaki drug.
