ABSTRACT This paper reflects on the role conflict among working women in Haryana, India. Currently, employment is not only dominated by men, but women have also been doing work that is usually done by only men. According to World Bank data, globally the female labor force participation rate has increased. Role conflict among working women arises from the tension between fulfilling professional responsibilities and meeting familial and societal expectations. This article examines the sources of role conflict, including work-life balance challenges, career advancement dilemmas, societal expectations, workplace discrimination, lack of support systems, and cultural norms. Addressing role conflict requires systemic changes in workplace policies and societal attitudes. Working women have to perform dual roles.
