Role of Churna in Management of Rheumatoid Arthritis-A Review

Author Name : Vaishnavi Bandrao, Prof. Sujata Lambe

ABSTRACT

An autoimmune condition known as rheumatoid arthritis (RA) results in chronic joint inflammation. Rheumatoid arthritis is believed to afflict well over 2 million Americans (females are diagnosed two to three times more frequently than males). Juvenile arthritis affects 71,000 children under the age of 16, 61,000 of them are female. The chronic nature of the illness, anxiety about undergoing surgery, severe morbidity, rising medical costs, inadequate response to conventional medications, and drawbacks of new medications lead the disheartened patient to focus on finding out unconventional treatments in the anticipation that they will minimise the disease's symptoms and improve quality of life. Therefore, over the past few decades, interest has grown in finding alternate therapy methods to combat chronic inflammation. In this regard, Withaferin A (WA), a naturally occurring bioactive substance derived from Ashwagandha (withania somnifera) has been recognized as a promising anti-inflammatory substance. Additionally, it is utilized to cure disorders including swelling joints and vata-related diseases like vata imbalance. Hingwashtak churna is utilized to cure arthritis (disorders including swelling joints and vata-related diseases like vata imbalance). As a tridoshic rasayana, "Triphala churna" is one of the most extensively researched ayurvedic churna. It demonstrated a variety of therapeutic effects, including anticancer, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-arthritic (immunomodulatory), cardio protective, etc.
