Root of Regrowth: Exploring The Herbs for Healthy Hair

ABSTRACT Hair is an inherent component of the human body that provides both protection and aesthetic appeal. Many hairs related problems are being experienced by people including hair loss, split ends, dandruff, increased sebum production, dry hairs, hair thinning and also various side effects by use of synthetic or chemical products. Thus, people are looking for ways to improve hair conditions, prevent hair-related problems and advanced hair care. Indian herbs have medicinal and nutraceuticals properties, and also are known for its “no side effects” hence the utilization of herbal formulations is extending progressively. Few Indian herbs e.g. Eclipta prostrata (Bhringraj), Phyllanthus emblica (Amla), Acacia concinna (shikakai), Hibiscus rosa-sinensis (Hibiscus), Bacopa monnieri (Brahmi) etc., are very famous for hair regrowth worldwide. This review summarised the potential of herbal remedies for promoting healthy hair, focusing on the application of herbal products for regrowth of hair. Also, various medicinal plants that has own hair regrowth properties with their biological sources and active chemical constituents. The prospect of the herbal hair care is exciting, as the industry is now shifting towards the personalized, plant- based, and highly effective solution.
