Seismic Assessment of Prefabricated Concrete Panel Systems for Sustainable Housing

ABSTRACT The pressing need to address large-scale urbanization and the housing shortage for the migrating population in India can be effectively tackled through the use of prefabrication techniques. Prefabricated concrete structures, by accelerating the construction process and ensuring high quality through controlled casting environments, are essential in meeting the urgent demand for urban infrastructure. This study examines the seismic performance of prefabricated concrete panel systems, which are critical for sustainable urban development. Prefabrication is recognized for its resource efficiency and its potential to significantly reduce the carbon footprint, aligning with India’s sustainability objectives of reducing emissions and conserving resources.
