Self –Reported Practice of Universal Precautions among Medical Laboratory Technicians

ABSTRACT

Background: Medical Laboratory Technicians are at risk of many infections at their workplace through needle-stick, airborne, blood borne, fecal-oral transmission and direct contact. Universal precautions are not well understood or implemented by Medical Laboratory Technicians. The knowledge and understanding of UPs among Medical Laboratory Technicians in developing countries is inadequate. The study was done to assess the awareness of universal precautions among the Medical Laboratory Technicians and knowledge about precautionary measures.
