ABSTRACT
Introduction- Conventional technique of ileostomy closure is associated with various postoperative complication such as anastomotic leak , iatrogenic bowel injury , small bowel obstruction, but novel technique of ileostomy closure resulted in decreased rate of these postoperative complications.
Methodology - This prospective study is to compare conventional technique over additional buttressing with natural muscle flap.
Result -In our study, 20.58% (n=7) of patients developed anastomotic leak, 20% (n=20) of patient developed iatrogenic injury who underwent conventional technique, while no patient who underwent our Novel technique develop anastomotic leak and iatrogenic injury.
Conclusion- In Our study Novel technique of ileostomy closure was found to be feasible, easily adoptable, reduced operative time and significantly less number of complications in terms of anastomotic leak and iatrogenic injury.
Keywords:- Buttressing, anastomic leak, iatrogenic Bowel injury, short duration of surgery
