Author Name : Dr. Neivotsonuo. B. Kuotsu, Sharonbeni K Patton, Mochitalu Rhi

ABSTRACT This research deals with the study of Amaranthus viridis Linn., belonging to the family Amaranthaceae. The current study aimed to analyse phytochemicals and determine the availability of natural medicinal substances. Amaranthus viridis L. is usually found in the tropical and subtropical regions. Many distinct illnesses have traditionally been treated with Amaranthus viridis Linn's leaves, seeds, roots, and entire plant. Many people in Northeast India, both tribal and non-tribal, eat the entire plant as a green vegetable. The bulk of studies on A. viridis L. have revealed folkloric usage for the treatment of rheumatism, inflammation, ulcers, asthma, hyperlipidemia, and diuretics. The plant is available from April to November. In this study, the leaves of Amaranthus viridis L. were extracted with the help of Soxhlet apparatus using methanol and ethanol as solvents. Studies on the plant's phytochemicals revealed that it contains terpenoids, alkaloids, cardiac glycosides, flavonoids, tannins, and phenols
