The Economic Implications of Organic Farming in India
Author Name : Prof. (Dr.) Anil Kumar Tiwari
ABSTRACT Organic foods are better for the environment and human health, demand for them is rising globally. Still, there are a number of unresolved issues, like: Do organic farmers make more money. Will lower cultivation costs make up for lower yields. Is it possible for farmers to follow organic agricultural guidelines and receive certification.Regarding the profitability, yields, and costs of organic goods, there is a great deal of variation in the literature on organic agriculture. While few studies have examined organic agriculture on a site-specific basis, none have conducted a larger-scale comparison between organic and conventional agriculture in India. Since 2015, the Indian government has supported organic agriculture nationwide under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY). 13.9 million certified organic farmers operated in 29,859 organic clusters under this scheme, encompassing 0.59 million hectares, or around 0.4% of India's cultivated land.
