ABSTRACT

India, the so called country of poor’s,all the ways faces malnutrition,a significant development challenge.Fish is an excellent source of high grade protein for the human consumption. For the last few decades many works have been done by a lot of researchers on the qualitative estimation of the food nutrients.Fish food had also been point of investigation for different authors in different parts of the world. But complete nutritional profiles of the fishes are not documented to the large extent. The present study was undertaken with an objective to focus on the potent qualities of  the nutrients of small indigenous food fish,Amblypharyngodonmola(Hamilton). The chosen fish species are mostly available and widely consumed by the local people especially poorers. The detailed investigation inferred that the fish species is rich in protein (15.43%),moisture (71.50%) but having lower content of lipid (2.94%).The amino acid composition resulted with the presence of twenty amino acids and the highest contents of L-Methionine (10.83%) was recorded. The studied fish species were found to contain comparatively lower amount of fatty acids .The studied fish was estimated to be rich in the important minerals, Ca (731.10mg) and P (1.99gm).

Key words:-Nutritional profile, aminoacids, fattyacids, minerals and vitamins.
