The Outline of William Godwin's Novel "Damon and Delia"

ABSTRACT "Damon and Delia" is a famous novel written by William Godwin, and he is an English journalist, political philosopher and novelist in "the Age of reason" in England. He had chosen the topics such as social justice, crime and punishment education, marriage, and the political ideas of at time. Damon and Delia describes about theme of Love and marriage. The theme of this book is one of ill fated love. The fathers are more concerned with wealth and reputation than the feelings of their children. "It is aburd to expect the inclinations and wishes of two human beings to coincide, through any long period of time. To oblige them to act and live together is to subject them to some inevitable potion of thwarting, bickering and unhappy".1 The spirit of the age was never more fully shown than in its treatment of this writer, its love of paradox and change, its dastard submission to prejudice and to the fashion of the day. "The cause of justice is the cause of humanity.
