Author Name : Dr. R. Aswathy

INTRODUCTION

Literary history is equally important as cultural history. If the roots are intense and indestructible, it will enrich the insights of future generations. It is the essence of the sacredness of tradition that stimulates the self-consciousness of the individual. It must have the spiritual vitality needed to strengthen hopes and dawns.

Malayalam cultural history is enhanced by a cultural disposition inherited from the Dravidian tradition of Sangam age. The time for a language free from regulation was noticed by the devotional atmosphere of spiritual devotion through writings of Ezuthachan. Since then, the culture and literature of the Malayalees have been subjected to constant appraisal of movements and latest trends. Nowadays, the re-examination of experimental outcomes has brought Malayalam poetry to the forefront of postmodernism.

If we examine the history of Malayalam poetry from the classical period to the dawn of modernity, we can perceive the historical lessons of the movement of poetry. We have enriched our poetic tradition by writing the history of poetry and works within the framework of movements. But currently, Malayalam poetry is in the midst of a poetic age in which contemporary poetry creates itself. The purpose of this essay is to explore the ways in which the present day poetic roles and disguises affect the sensory level of the Malayalees.
