The Systematic Review on Ekakushtha W.R.T Psoriasis and Its Management: A Review Article

ABSTRACT

The outermost layer of the body is skin. Skin have many function in human body, some of these are protection of body from number of outer hazards and also work as chemical barrier and antimicrobial. In Ayurveda, various texts describe about skin .In Ayurvedic literature, vitiation of Tridosha and dhatus are main causes of any skin disease.

Ekakushtha is one of skin disease which is common of among all the skin disease. It is a Vata kapha pradhan tridosha kshudra kushtha which is characterised by Aswedanam(Lack of sweating), Mahavastu(Covering of large surface area) and Mastsya shakalavat (Looks like scale of fish)Twacha .The symptom of Ekakushtha resembles to symptoms of Plaque Psoriasis(one of common type of Psoriasis).It is a common chronic ,inflammatory ,immune mediated, proliferative, non-contagious skin disease that affecting the skin. In modern era, disease is treated with corticosteroid, immunosuppressive drug but they give short time relief and also cause side- effect. Hence, it is time to find out safe and better treatment for Psoriasis which provides long lasting results and a better life to patients.
