Utilization of Plastic Wastes as Construction Material for Green Development

ABSTRACT

In this modern era, proper disposal of plastic wastes has becoming serious threats to build up a sustainable environment. The objective of this study to reuse plastic waste bags as construction material for sustainable development to minimize the burnt issue which cause environmental pollution. In this paper, the shredded plastic waste bags are mixed with sand to synthesize a modified plastic mixer. The impact of different concentration of shredded plastic wastes like 30%, 40%, and 50%, respectively was mixed in binder sand. Comprehensive research has been done on the use of plastic waste for replacement of sand in the production of bricks, tiles, concrete, and roadways. Additionally, effect of plastic waste addition on tensile characteristics and water absorption has been extensively examined. Reported results showed the favoring of using waste plastic in tiles manufacturing applications.
