Virtual anatomy learning: an alternative approach to live animal dissection

Author Name : Shashi Meena

ABSTRACT The virtual dissection is a potential alternative of traditional hands-on dissection representing a variety from multimedia presentations to interactive simulations. Non-animal methods including prepared histology slides, digital dissection simulations and videos or images of animal dissection are preferable to single-use preserved animals. As with virtual dissection, interactive computer software allows students to investigate more accurately body structure and system function, physiological practices and analyzing data. Standard educational plan with computer assisted programs would have significantly improved assessment scores and that the product would be very much acknowledged by students. Studies showed that students would prefer these alternative learning opportunities and find more informative and enjoyable.
